Optimal Patient Care - Quality Outcomes - Clinical Integration
Optimal patient care, quality outcomes and clinical integration are the cornerstones and key objectives of the PHO, allowing the PHO to negotiate higher reimbursement rates for its members. These objectives are achieved through such PHO initiatives as the Doctors' Health Partnership, an ongoing program to manage patients with diabetes and coronary artery disease that has led to significant improvements in clinical outcomes since inception in 2001, NOVO Innovations, an information systems application that allows increased electronic information exchange between members practices that have an EMR and those that do not, and the STROKE initiative, a collaborative clinical management program with Mass General Hospital for patients suffering from a stroke.
Expert Healthcare Consulting/Legal Services/Contract Language Negotiation/HIPAA-HITECH-Protection of PHI
PHO members have access to, and support of, staff with an extensive knowledge of:
- National, regional and local health trends, contract negotiations, strategic planning and fee schedule analysis
- Regulatory requirements impacting contract language, bylaws and various healthcare-related policies
- Fine tooth analysis of complicated contract language to ensure protection, appropriate payments and the ability to adhere to contract provisions
- Regulatory privacy/security requirements and development of appropriate practice policies, reviewed and approved by legal counsel
Partnering Resources of Medical Offices (PROMO) - Educational Forums
PHO member staff are able to participate in monthly educational forums coordinated by PROMO, a sub-committee of the PHO, formed of PHO-member elected Officers from PHO practices. Topics are based on current events in the healthcare field and sugestions from the PHO members. Past presentations include topics from subject areas such as Coding, Billing, Human Resources, Practice Management and HealthCare Reform. Meetings are held from 7 AM - 9 AM in the Auditoriums of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with breakfast provided from 7 AM - 7:30 AM. RSVPs are required for participation in the breakfast. Developing Integrated Systems for Physician Organizations (DISPO)
PHO members receive clinical integration support via DISPO, a sub-committee of the PHO, formed of representative PHO members. DISPO's quarterly meetings provide a forum for practice leadership in evaluating/recommending various products/tools/programs to enhance practice operations and clinical integration. Payor Resolution Support
The PHO provides assistance coordinating payor/practice communication and resolving payor contract/payment issues.
